Bad Shoes, Good Friends

In the summer of 2016, I walked 900 miles along El Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route across France and Spain. My lack of experience led to me purchasing the wrong pair of shoes, which in turn led to terrible blisters and infections in my feet. It was only thanks to the kindness of a stranger that I was able to realize the danger I was in and get to a hospital in time to save my toes from amputation.
